I never thought I’d say that string of words together, but here we are!
A brief backstory: WeAchieve was a habit tracking and goal setting app that my good friend Kai Fei and I started back in 2018 as we both left our corporate jobs. We spent the better part of two years trying to build a habit tracking platform with a social twist to it. I’ll spare you the drama: it didn’t really work out, and we spent a lot of time building and exploring many different directions and not enough time pushing toward market viability.
But the fact is, I always liked where we got our interface to, particularly for enabling individual users to track their habits. All that time iterating had taught us a lot, even if we didn’t have much to show for it.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve had some time to dedicate toward building things again, which feels great, but also gave me a shot at rebuilding WeAchieve if we stripped out a lot of the jank we had layered in and just built the essentials, entirely from scratch, on a new technology stack.
And critically, I wouldn’t be alone: I’d have the help of GPT4 to come in and help build it, which expedited things dramatically. Within a day I had a basic framework, and within 3-4 days I had all the main features I needed. And so here we are, I humbly present: WeAchieve Lite!
You can try it out for yourself here: www.mumma.co/weachieve and use the password “expound” to enter the site.
Honestly, it has all the features that probably 90%+ of people look for with a habit tracker. The only main caveat for now is that data is only stored locally, so if you switch devices you’d have to export and import your data. That’s doable on the web or on the phone, but for now it’s a limitation.
Still though, give it a try! It is super easy to add data in two quick taps:
And you get great visuals denoting your progress vs. your goal:
And I’d say there is more, but honestly that’s about it. I just wanted to build in the essentials!
I will likely still add some features to this over time, definitely pretty it up a bit, but the good news is that in its current state, hosting it is basically free and so it will remain up at www.mumma.co/weachieve forever (or as long as I’m around) and will remain free with its current feature set. So you can rest assured that you can incorporate it into your life and it’ll be there for you (unlike the original WeAchieve)!
I’ve written about habit tracking a few times here, and as much as I love Notion as software, it’s just a bit slow for something like habit tracking where you want it to be out-of-the-way. WeAchieve is fast, as customizable, and gives you more tailored visuals specifically for habit tracking.
So give it a quick spin! I’d love to hear any thoughts you have on it: either in the comments here or via the “send feedback” option on the site (under the gear icon in the top right). And expect a little kick into habit tracking content here. I won’t beat you over the head with it, but forming good habits is absolutely part of the Human Optimization Project.
